Japanese ministry commends Imphal foundation

Imphal, April 23 2022:
Ministry of Health, Labour & Welfare of Japan has praised the 2nd World War Imphal Campaign Foundation, Manipur for the works rendered by the Foundation in its research and development on the Battle of Imphal and 2nd World War.
In recognition of the activities of the Imphal Campaign Foundation (ICF), Mari Yamamoto, director of Social Welfare and War Victims' Relief Bureau, Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan, sent letters of appreciation to the Foundation's president Arambam Angamba and former president Yumnam Rajeshwor.
A team of Japanese delegates comprising Satoshi Yonemaru, first secretary, Embassy of Japan in India, Kazuchika Furukawa, senior chief, Office for the Recovery and Repatriation of the Remains of War Dead, and Eri Ohtani, anthropology expert, Planning Division of Recovery of the Remains of War Dead, Social Welfare and War Victims' Relief Bureau, Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Japan while visiting Imphal handed over the letters of appreciation to the president and former president of the Foundation on April 21, 2022, ICF said in a press release on Saturday.
Lauding the activities taken up by Imphal Campaign Foundation, Mari Yamamoto said, "Thanks to the great support and cooperation from 2nd World War Imphal Campaign Foundation, for our project of the remains of war dead in state of Manipur, we are able to repatriate many of the remains of Japanese war dead who had been left in the State of Manipur to Japan.
We would like to extend our appreciation to the all members of 2nd World War Imphal Campaign foundation" .
2nd World War Imphal Campaign Foundation has been undergoing excavation of the various battlefields of the 2nd World War for the last decade.
Relics and artefacts excavated were exhibited in their Museum, Imphal War Museum located at Sagolband Tera Amudon, Imphal as well as at Imphal Peace Museum, Maibam Lokpa Ching.
The Foundation is also collaborating with Japan Association of Recovery and Repatriation of War Casualties (JARRWC) for finding out remains of Japanese soldiers who died during the Battle of Imphal in Manipur, the release added.
