JCCWB hands over night heron to Zoo

Kakching, December 22 2024: Members of Joint Coordination Committee on Wildlife and Biodiversity (JCCWB), Manipur handed over a night heron/'Urok Chongkhu' to Manipur Zoological Garden, Iroisemba on Sunday.

Speaking to media persons, JCCWB convener Romesh Ningthoujam informed that it received a call on its helpline number from one Gurumayum Durjeet Sharma of Thongju Part 2 on Sunday about a wounded bird at his property.

Subsequently, JCCWB active member Hamom Kishan and his team rescued the night heron and after checking its health transferred the bird to the director of Manipur Zoological Garden, he added.

Romesh further appealed to the public to call JCCWB Help Line Number-9436227632 regarding any wildlife issue and extend their support in preventing wildlife crimes.
