Kakching, July 21 2014: As part of the state-wide celebration of 65th Vanamahotsava, the Range Officer, Nongmaiching Forests Range Irilbung under the Central Forests Division, Mantripukhri organised a programme at Puthiba community hall in Pourabi Village in Imphal East district along with plantation of tree saplings in the campus of Puthiba Laishangi campus today.

.KKalachand Singh, Pradhan of Waiton Gram Panchayat and Th.Mahendrapratap Singh,IFS, Conservator of Forests (Central circle), Forests Department attended as chief guest and president of the function co-hosted by Director of Manipur Zoological Garden Arun R.S,IPS.

Yambem(O) Naobi Devi, member of Pourabi Gram Panchayat part-I and president of Joint Forests Management Committee(JFMC) Pourabi K.Samungou Meitei were guests of honour in the function participated by students, senior citizens, PRI members and local people.

In his address, Kalachand stated the natural plants are inalienable friends of the human beings and they provide the precious oxygen to us.

So, we should plant adequate trees for the generation, he added.

Conservator of forests Th.Mahendrapratap Singh explained the importance of Van Mahotsav celebration and appealed to the people to join such programmes.
