Workshop on Al in Medical Electronics organised

A one-day workshop on 'Artificial Intelligence (Al) in Medical Electronics' was organised by National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Imphal in collaboration with Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of Manipur Technical University (MTU), at Classic Grande, Chingmeirong on Wednesday.
Speaking as one of the presidium members, NIT Manipur director Kh Manglem informed that AI was extensively used while battling the Covid-19 pandemic, such as in detection of infected passengers returning to the state.
At the global scale, AI was used widely in organising conferences with regard to the pandemic, tracking its possible occurrences.
Stressing the need for availing doctors' prescriptions in the digital format, he said that this will facilitate in linking of data between doctors from the state and across the globe, and help provide proper care to patients, wherever they may be.
However, if the data is not sufficient, it will be difficult for AI to collect and com pile relevant information.
Additionally, there is the need to put in place security measures to prevent data breach, he stated.
The workshop was also attended by NIELIT Imphal director Debachandra Singh and MTU finance officer Keisham Biju as presidium members, besides MEITY, Government of India, R&D Division group coordinator scientist G Sunita Verma via online.
Medical and engineering students and teachers also attended the event.
