Many decry bomb attack at RIMS Director's residence

Doctors, nurses and staff of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal staged a sit-in protest in front of A-Block, RIMS today denouncing the bomb blast which took place at the residence of RIMS Director Professor A Santa at Uripok Ahanthem Leikai on the night of July 18 .
Speaking on the sideline of the protest, Dr W Ranbir, president, Non-Teaching Employees Welfare Association (NTEWA)' conveyed that
the sit-in-protest was organized by NTEWA to express condemnation and discontentment of the targeted attack on the RIMS Director.
He asserted that doctors and staff of the hospital were shocked by the recent bomb attack.
While claiming that doctors and hospital staff are exempted from attacks even during war time, the NTEWA president maintained that peaceful negotiation can sort out any differences between the hospital authorities and those who carried out the bqmb attack.
He also made a broad appeal to all concerned to refrain from carrying out such violent acts in the future.
According to a statement issued by N Phillip Singh, Media Advisor, RIMS, the sit-in-protest was attended by the Medical 'Superintendent, Dean (Academic), heads of departments, Chief Nursing Officer, members of Patient Welfare Committee, and Medical Officers' Association (TAMOA), RIMS Association (RNAL), NTEWA staff students and other of the hospital.
On the other hand, residents of Uripok Ahanthem leikai also organized a sit-in protest at the locality today in condem-nation of the July 18 bomb blast.
Notably, Indian Medical Association (IMA )of RIMS Alumni (ARTMSA) also joined in the chorus of condemnations of the bomb attack at the residence of the RIMS Director, In a statement IMA called the bomb attack an act of cowardice and urged the State government to apperhend the perpetrators responsible at the earliest.
Meanwhile, ARIMSA urged everyone to refrain from any violent act against healthcare personnel and decried the bomb attack in the strongest term.
