Thoubal, November 19 2021:
Pangal Political Forum (PPF) celebrated the 49th Manipur University Day at Keirao Makting in Imphal East district on Friday.
The celebration function was attended by Alhaj Sahabuddin Sangomsumbam of Urup as chief guest and All Round Development Organisation president Md Jallalud din as functional president while Keirao Kendra Minority Muslim Development Organisation president Abdul Kaher and KKECC president Alhaj Abdul Jalil were guests of honour.
Delivering keynote address of the celebration, PPF spokesperson and social activist MI Khan said that Manipur University (MU) has become an asset for more than 30 communities settling in Manipur after late chief minister Mohammad Alimuddin brought the university at Canchipur.
Unfortunately, MU Day was never held till PPF began the Foundation Day celebration of the university from the year 2012 in the campus of the university.
After MU authority decided to celebrate Foundation Day inside MU campus from the year 2019, PPF started celebrating the day outside MU at different places of the state and would continue to celebrate the same in future too.
He then urged the chief minister and the MU authority to implement 4 percent reservation for minority Meitei Pangal community in admission to various courses in MU.
He also drew attention of the chief minister for fulfilling long standing demand of Meitei Pangal to open a college exclusively for Meitei Pangal girl students.
The celebration function was also attended by Keirao Kendra Minority Development Organisation, All Round Development Organisation, Keirao Makting Muslim Women Organisation, Community Forward Organisation and Islamic Youth Coordinating Committee volunteers and leaders.
At the end of the celebration function, the gathering paid rich floral tributes to portrait of late ex-CM Mohammed Alimuddin.
