Assembly archives & museum celebrates

Imphal, October 18 2021: Manipur Legislative Assembly Archives and Museum celebrated its third foundation day on Monday.

Assembly speaker Y Khemchand and secretary K Meghajit attended the event as chief guest and president respectively while joint secretary G Tapan and Historical & Cultural Research Centre Imphal president Naoroibam Indramani were guests of honour.

Addressing the gathering, Khemchand said that the celebration has been made more meaningful by the fact that October 18 is also the day when the first democratic election of Manipur Legislative Assembly was held as an independent nation in the South East Asia region.

Khemchand said that he does not know whether he might get re-elected or not and if elected, may not retain the post of speaker.

As such, he urged the assembly secretariat staffers to take good care of the archives and museum while making efforts to add more important documents in the archives.

Meghajit called for organising the next foundation day celebration on a grand scale and urged the staff members to be sincere in their duties.

He also assured to dispense his duties sincerely in his remaining few years in the office.
