Diabetes awareness, detection camps held

Lions Club of Imphal Greater, Central, Leimar-ol, Ningol Collective, and Imphal Chanura Lions international District 322 D in collaboration with Shija Hospitals & Research Institute organised a diabetes awareness cum detection camp at Khwairamband Ima Keithel, here on Sunday.
Interacting with the media, programme chairperson M Shyambabu said that the camp is an annual event for the women vendors of Ima Keithel.
Around 550 women vendors in Imphal city areas were provided diabetes screening and medicines at free of cost during the camp.
They were also educated on diabetes management by experts while a Yoga demonstration was held as part of the camp.
On the other hand, Lions Club of Kakching Greater and Anandasing Yoga & Nature Cure Research Hospital, Kakching under the aegis of Lions Club International District 322D organised a one-day free diabetes detection camp/knock out diabetes programme at the relief camp located at Indoor Stadium Kakching on Sunday.
Around 100 individuals from different relief camps and villages in Kakching district were screened for diabetes at the camp.
At least 15 persons were found with elevated blood sugar level.
Lions Clubs of Kakching Greater president Uttamkumar Naorem, secretary Nongmaithem Sunita, Kha Manipur Yoga and Nature Cure Association (KHAMYNCA), Kakching secretary/chief functionary Dr M Rajkumar, Committee for Peace and Social Harmony, Kakching president Yengkhom Bhagyachandra assessed the camp.
