Last 'National Lok Adalat' for the year held

Under National Legal Services Authority, the Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) and District Legal Services Authority jointly organised the last National Lok Adalat for the year at Lamphel Court complex on Saturday.
The three-bench Lok Adalat was presided over by Imphal West district & sessions judge Y Rother, Imphal East district & sessions judge N Lanleima and ND&PS Manipur special judge Monalisa Maibam as chairpersons.
Led by MASLSA patron-in-chief and High Court of Manipur chief justice Justice D Krishnakumar, High Court of Manipur judges Justice A Bimol, Justice A Guneshwar Sharma, Justice Golmei Gaiphulsillu, High Court of Manipur registrar general Ojesh Mutum and MASLSA member secretary Alek Muivah inspected the National Lok Adalat at Lamphel Court complex and also handed over certificates to select individuals whose cases were settled in the National Lok Adalat.
Speaking in this regard, MASLSA additional member secretary Bineshwori Maibam informed that several cases including matrimonial, divorce, criminal compoundable offences, civil cases, bank recovery, electricity and water bills, motor accident claims and revenue cases are adjudicated in the final National Lok Adalat for the year.
The National Lok Adalat held at Lamphel Court complex are mostly Imphal East and Imphal West.
The cases will include pre-litigation cases and pending cases in court, she added.
For the first time, academicians were also included as members of the Lok Adalat, she continued, while explaining that cases settled in Lok Adalat cannot be appealed to another court.
She further urged the people to take benefit in the upcoming Lok Adalat.
Out of 331 cases taken up on Saturday, 295 cases were adjudicated and Rs 3,00,85,077 settled.
