Nemcha inaugurates cooperative week

Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen today inaugurated the 64th All India Cooperative Week Celebration, at Laishram Leirak community hall, Imphal, under the theme "Empowering People through Digitalization of Coop" .
The event was organised by Manipur State Cooperative Union in collaboration with Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Manipur and District Cooperative Officer, Imphal West.
Stressing on the theme, the chief guest of the function, Nemcha Kipgen exclaimed that digitalization is an essential element for successful operation of cooperatives as the world is becoming a global village.
Digitalization has now replaced the manual and traditional activities of the old days , which consumed great time and labour as well as energy.
With the advent of digitalization, there is a growth in revenue which has impacted the cooperatives by promoting business opportunities as well as encouraging a healthy competition, she asserted.
Nemcha also highlighted that the success or failure in the administration of a cooperative society depends on efficient management and professionalism.
Without proper management and professionalism in any field, the organisation or cooperative or a State or country cannot march towards the path of development, she added.
The inaugural function was also attended by the Chairman, Handloom and Handicraft Development Cooperation Ltd, S Rajen Singh, Principal Secretary (Coop.) Government of Manipur, JC Ramthanga, Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Manipur, H Rupachandra Singh and Director, ICM, Imphal, Dr N Ranjana Devi, as president and guests of honour respectively.
As part of the function, 'Manipur Cooperative' journal was also released.
It may be mentioned that Cooperative Week is celebrated every year by National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), which is the apex body of cooperative movement from November 14 to
November 20 .
The main objective of the week long celebration is to highlight the achievements of cooperative movement and to plan for future strategies.
