Curfew breakers made to do sit-ups

Police are now punishing people who come out of homes in violation of the curfew imposed for containing spread of Covid-19 pandemic by making them to do sit-ups.
Manipur Police have been detaining curfew breakers and violators of Covid-19 SOPs, apart from levying fine on them.
But still there are many who come out during curfew and roam around.
On Friday, a team of Porompat police station led by SI Gavaskar conducted awareness on Covid-19 and the reason for imposition of curfew in areas under the jurisdiction of the police station.
The team also conducted checking at Khurai Kongpal, Tinsid Road, Khurai Thoudam Leikai, Khurai Thoidingjam Leirak, Salanthong, Khurai Chaithabi Leirak and Lamlong during which the police team punished the violators by making them to do sit-ups, before sending them back home.
Meanwhile, 133 Covid-19 SOPs violators were detained by Manipur Police and collected Rs 55,150 as fine from them on Friday, according to a release issued by Manipur Police Department Covid-19 nodal officer IGP (Ops) staff officer Rojit Irom.
