Campaign against disturbance to education from Jun 15

Imphal, June 13 2022: The Coordinating Committee on Disturbance Free Educational Zone Demand would be organising campaign from June 15 ahead of the Disturbance Free Zone Demand Day on July 5 .

Informing this during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club here on Monday, Leishangthem Lamyanba, who is convener of the coordinating committee formed by 15 different organisations and also president of DESAM, said that the committee has been demanding the government to make education sector a disturbance free zone for many years.

The committee strongly condemns the bomb threat at schools and appeals to all concerned to refrain from creating any sort of disturbance in the education sector, he said.

Regarding the observance, he said that a mega rally was organised on July 5, 2008 with the demand to make education sector disturbance free zone.

Since then, July 5 is being observed as Disturbance Free Zone Demand Day and this year, the committee would be commemorating the 15th edition of the observance along with a mega public meeting, he said.

Ahead of the observance day, the committee would be organising campaigns from June 15 with activities like open debating competition, awareness programmes, he said, while urging the public for participation and cooperation.
