Imphal, April 13 2015 :
JD-U Manipur unit has urged the Government of Manipur to upgrade Moreh, Jiribam and Sadar Hills to the status of full fledged revenue districts.
Speaking to some media persons at their Babupara office, JD-U State unit president M Tombi said that Moreh deserves to be upgraded to the status of full fledged revenue districts in view of the enhanced infrastructure being developed there under the NDA Government's Act East Policy.
People of Jiribam sub-division have been facing all kinds of difficulties on account of the huge distance which separates the sub-division from the district headquarters (Imphal East) .
Even invitation cards were printed during the time of Chief Minister W Nipamacha for formal declaration of Sadar Hills as a full fledged district together with Imphal East.
Whereas Imphal East district was created without any problem, Sadar Hills somehow missed the opportunity.
Now it's time to declare Sadar Hills as a full fledged district, Tombi asserted.
Even as a new office of Social Welfare Department was opened at Moreh in 2012, the same office is unable to function properly due to absence of approach road and other necessary infrastructure.
Aged pensioners of Moreh encounter severe difficulties every time they go to Chandel district headquarters to take their pension money.
It's time for the State Government to devise a new system under which pension money can be delivered through post office.
