Imphal, July 11 2013:
On behalf of the Meiteis residing in Cachar district of Assam, Umanglai Ngaksellup, Lakhipur Khunou, has expressed strong reservations over the decision of the state government to oust the titular king of Manipur from Sana Konung.
In a release, S Biren, Secretary of Umanglai Ngaksellup, stated that vacating the king from Sana Konung would turn out to be a strange conduct of separating body and soul.
Moreover, the entire world would laugh at us considering Manipuri as a group of people who don't know the conduct and affairs of their royal palace and disregard the honour of their leader, identity, clan, etc.
Biren appealed to the members of State Cabinet to have a look from the historical significance of Sana Konung and its roles and duties that have to be performing in the present social context of Manipur.
Stating that the entire Meitei residing in the district are still embracing the culture, tradition and aged old practices as well as history of Manipur, the Secretary of Umanglai Ngaksellup appealed to let the king occupy Sana Konung and render his duties and responsibilities at the fullest so as to shine the state in the world.
