Ex-footballer Lalneo Khongsai dies

Former Manipur State League player Demlenlal alias Lalneo Khongsai passed away after suffering shortness of breath on Monday around 8.30 am.
Lalneo Khongsai (35) is survived by his wife and three children.
Lalneo, who hailed from Chalwa village under Tujang Vaichong sub division in Kangpokpi district, was a noted football player of JSYC Sadar Hills.
He led the Sadar Hills team into the prestigious Manipur State League in 2012 after winning the Winners' Cup in 2011.He was compelled to hang up his boot following the death of his father to look after the family since football could not yet provide sufficient income to run a family mainly in the hill districts of Manipur.
According to his cousin brother Lalboi, Lalneo suffered shortness of breath Monday morning and was rushed to T Vaichong PHC, the nearest healthcare facility in the area.
Unfortunately, no doctor was available at the health centre and attempt to provide him oxygen through an oxygen concentrator too went in vain as there was no power and no generator.
Then, he was brought to Kangpokpi district headquarters but owing to the minor mudslide which occurred again at Lamlenkon, it took more time than expected to reach the town.
When taken to Kangpokpi Christian Hospital, the doctor declared him brought dead.
On learning about the incident, KSO Sadar Hills along with KSO Twilang block met the Chief Medical Officer Kangpokpi at her office chamber and put up the matters for necessary action while discussing means and ways to prevent such undesirable incidents in the future.
Meanwhile, JSYC Sadar Hills expressed heartfelt condolence over the untimely demise of its former player and conveyed the club's solidarity to the bereaved family.
Kangpokpi Youth Union also conveyed its deepest condo lences over the untimely demise of Lalneo while recalling that the youth union had lifted the first Mangboi Trophy in 2008 at Motbung with the help of Lalneo Khongsai.
