'Construction of martyrs' memorials nearing completion'

Peace Committee Kangleipak Manipur Special 50 has informed that construction works for the memorial complexes (Ningshing Khubam) of those who laid down their lives in the on going conflict have been initiated in different parts of the state.
Addressing media persons at Hotel Elegance, Moirang Okshongbung on Tuesday, Committee president Rajesh Meitei said that of the 25 memorials planned for the 25 martyrs who made the sacrifice to uphold Manipur's territorial integrity in the communal conflict that broke out on May 3 last year, 10 are nearing completion with works for the remaining 15 monuments would begin soon.
He further appealed to the government and all concerned to extend cooperation to the important initiative.
Of the memorial venues nearing completion, four are at Wangoo Akashoi, one at Ningthoukhong Ward No.2 and another at Phougakchao Ikhai.
Additionally, plans are afoot for construction of several more memorial sites, including three at Khoijuman, one in Imphal East, 10 each at Khamenlok and Laingoubi and one at Thamnapokpi.
