Day of Older Persons observed

International Day of Older Persons was observed by Integrated Rural Development and Educational Organisation (IRDEO)-RRTC (Ageing)-NE under the theme 'Ageing with Dignity, Dignity at Every Stage, Every Age' at IRDEO Complex, Wangbal on Thursday.
The programme held under the aegis of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment was attended by former minister Dr Moirangthem Nara Singh as chief guest and retired chief medical officer Dr Ksh.Manglem Singh as president, while Horticulture Department retired deputy director Mutum Nabachan-dra Singh, senior consultant surgeon Dr Kh Shantikumar Singh and Wangbal Gram Panchayat, ex-pradhan H Rakho Singh Were guests of honour.
In his address, Dr Nara opined that with better and efficient healthcare service system, acquiring new skills and knowledge, and living a productive life one can hope to live longer.
While informing that in some countries, senior citizens have the opportunity to pursue education till the university level free of cost, and avail free healthcare service, he stated that for longevity one should seek treatment at the slightest hint of ilL-health and take extreme care of what one consumes.
As part of the programme, simple gifts were presented to elderlies present at the observance function.
