Bishnupur, December 09 2024:
Peeved with the political activism in Kum bi assembly constituency amid the ongoing crisis, Kumbi denizens affected by the violence have appealed to relevant parties to prioritise resolving the Kuki-Meetei feud and ensuring the safe return of internally displaced persons to their ancestral homes.
Addressing the media at Borayangbi village on Monday, one Kh Iboyaima stated that the Kumbi area was the first to be affected by the ongoing crisis with Chandongpokpi, Khoijumantabi, Wangoo Sabal, Meichak-pi Ching and Torbung the worst-hit.
Recently, a woman farmer was killed by armed Kuki militants while many residents have fled their homes, seeking shelter in relief camps, Iboyaima related and criticised the political leaders of Kumbi for engaging in political activities inspite of the people enduring serious hardships.
Disagreeing with the government's claims that all efforts are being made to resolve the ongoing crisis, he opined that rather than prioritising solutions, the current government is preoccupied with political activities.
