Imphal, June 09 2022:
Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) has clarified that the Zeliangrong people, since the inception of Indo-Naga political talk, have neither endorsed nor supported or subscribed to any particular party or faction till date.
With reference to reports published Wednesday in some local dailies that Zeliangrong civil organisations endorsed the 'agreed position' signed by NNPGs, the Baudi maintained that report of Zeliangrong CSOs extending support to Working Group of NNPGs during a consultative meeting held on June 7 at Dimapur, does not carry or represent the voice of Zeliangrong people.
In a joint release, ZB (AMN) president Akhang Kamei, ZB (Nagaland) president CR Zeliang and ZB (Arunachal Pradesh) president Pauheu descried as regrettable that some of "our Zeliangrong CSOs who attended the said consultative meeting assumed to have endorsed and supported the WC-NNPGs' Agreed position as reflected in media".
While asserting that Zeliangrong people neither endorse nor support or subscribe to any particular party or faction till date, the joint statement affirmed "it is our constant view that unity and collective effort of all Nagas is prerogative to finding pragmatic Naga solution".
It said: "We reiterate our stand time and again of our people's support for early and inclusive settlement of the protracted Naga political issues while keeping alongside the Zeliangrong political aspiration and movement intact".
"The supposed endorsement and support of Zeliangrong to NNPG's Agreed Position and its subsequent status paper as reflected contradicts the political outlook of Zeliangrong people", it added.
ZB (AMN) also asserted that the Central Executive Council of ZB (AMN) neither discussed nor authorised any of its frontal organisations on the issues.
ZB also cautioned Zeliangrong individuals or CSOs to refrain from giving any undue press statement that could confuse, disturb or create undesirable implication at this stage when the progress of Indo-Naga political talk is at its crucial momentum for final settlement.
It further clarified that representatives of Zeliangrong CSOs who participated in the said consultative meeting of NNPG were not officially commissioned to represent the people nor do they carry the voice of the Zeliangrong people on the Naga political issues.
Therefore, the news report/ press statement was devoid of any implied or deduced meaning, it added.
