Imphal, February 09 2025:
Thoubal Amasung Kakching District Apunba Lup (TAKDAL) has raised strong concerns over the suffering of displaced people and the worsening situation in the state.
The organisation condemned both the central and state governments for their failure to resolve the crisis, reopen the national highway, and revive the economy.
It also criticised the absence of the Manipur crisis in the President's speech in Parliament.
In a statement, TAKDAL accused the government of making conflicting claims about the root cause of the crisis and engaging in a blame game rather than effectively addressing the situation.
It asserted that the earrent turmoil is a result of successive governments' failure to periodically review the security situation and socio-political dynamics.
The organisation highlighted various conventions of Kukis over the past few decades, including those held on November 6, 2006, in Churachandpur, October 24, 2013, in Moreh, and January 29, 2014, in Saikul, where resolutions were adopted for formation of a Zo nation.
Expressing deep concern over the prevailing unrest situation, TAKDAL urged all political parties in the state to set aside their differences and work together for the future of the state and its people.
It also demanded that the government take immediate steps to curb the growing gun culture and explore solutions by consulting political parties, civil society organisations, and security agencies.
