Imphal, September 08 2024:
While stating that Kuki terrorists are like the shortlived morning dew, Manipur People's Development Front (MPDF) said that it is the responsibility of the state government to maintain law and order in the state.
Addressing a press meet at Thangjing Hall of Manipur Press Club here on Sunday, MPDF secretary Sapam Samungou condemned the apathetic attitude of the central and state governments with regard to the recent drone bombings and rocket attacks, which left civilians dead and injured many others including security personnel.
Such attitude tantamount to surrendering to the Kuki terrorists.
He continued that the leaders of a state or country should understand that a peaceful and progressive state is possible only when there is peace and stability, while strictly adhering to the Constitution of the state.
Article 355 does not allow the union government to interfere directly in the administration of the state government with regard to the law and order.
In addition, it does not permit animated suspension and dissolution of the state government.
The appointment of a security advisor and his role contradicts the responsibility of the chief minister of a state.
It is questionable why no action has been taken up against the Kuki militants who are attacking and killing civilians and security personnel, he remarked.
MPDF president and ex-MLA N Nodiachand said that the conflict broke out with a hidden agenda of the central government.
An example of this is how the conflict began with the separate administration demand of the ten Kuki MLAs, but the MLAs are yet to be disqualified for failing to uphold their oath to the Indian Constitution to protect and defend the integrity of the state/country.
He continued that while Amit Shah visited the state several times, his direction to the CM to govern the valley, while he (Shah) oversee the hills, should never have been said.
This just proves that everything was premeditated including the appointment of the DGP and security advisor.
If there were no hidden agenda, strict action would have been taken up against the Kukis and the leaders arrested much earlier, resulting in the conflict coming to an end a long time ago, Nodiachand asserted.
