Imphal, January 08 2025:
As preparations are on for reopening of the In-do-Myanmar Friendship Gate number 1 and 2, officials have issued border passes to 60 individuals intending to cross the border on Wednesday.
For Myanmarese nationals visiting Manipur via the Gate No 1, Assam Rifles personnel and Moreh police manning the Integrated Check Post (ICP) are processing border passes.
To obtain a pass, Myanmarese nationals must provide biometrics, a photo, and other required documents.
The border pass allows them to stay in Moreh for up to one week.
A similar process is in place for those crossing Gate No 2, with the pass requiring renewal after one week.
In the meantime, Pallel headquartered 26 Sector Assam Rifles commander Brig Robin Chatterjee is currently in Moreh overseeing border operations and inspecting the area.
He has also met with various CSOs in the border town.
Authorities have reportedly sealed all the porous points between Gate No 1 and 2, effectively prohibiting unauthorised entry from across the border.
