'Great October Revolution' observed

Communist Party of India (CPI), Manipur State Council observed the 107th anniversary of The Great October Socialist Revolution' at Irawat Bhawan, here on Thursday.
CPI State Control Commission chairman Langol Iboyaima, Central Control Commission member Dr M Nara and CPI state secretary L Thoiren attended the event as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, L Thoiren highlighted noteworthy lessons from the Great October Socialist Revolution in bringing a socialist society.
"Even though the society advances in the current form of democracy, it does not guarantee equality in real sense since modem technologies are often used for the benefits of a handful of rich persons and large amount of funds are utilised in non-productive sectors, hardly benefiting the masses," he observed.
Dr Nara also shared insights of a socialist society and the message of the historic revolution that led to the creation of Soviet Union where every individual enjoys equal rights and privilege.
"The revolution also holds the true meaning of a democratic government," he noted.
L Sotinkumar shared the historic events that led to the Great October Revolution, which was a key moment in the larger Russian Revolution of 1917-1923 .
"It was the second revolutionary change of government in Russia in 1917," he recalled.
