UNLF cadre held; arm, ammunition recovered

Imphal, October 07 2015: Troops of the 16 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) along with Imphal East Police Commandos launched a joint operation in the general area Happy Valley and apprehended one UNLF cadre on October 6 .

According to a press statement issued by PRO HQ IGAR (S), the apprehendee was identified as "No 2289, Batch No 36 of 2011, Pvt" N Md Ribiyul alias Salim (23), son of Md Jamil of Pangaltabi under Sagolmang, Imphal East.

The apprehendee has been handed over to the Sagolmang Police Station.

Meanwhile, 41 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector Assam Rifles and 20 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles launched a counter insurgency operation in the general area of West Unapal on the same day and recovered arm and ammunition.

The recovered items included one AK 47 Rifle, one magazine and thirty live rounds.
