Assistive kits distributed to differently-abled persons

Artificial Limb Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) has been giving new rays of hope to several differently abled people of the state in the form of providing artificial limbs, hearing aids, Multi-Sensory Inclusive Educational (MSIE) kits, smart cane, tricycle, wheelchair," specially designed smartphones, motorised tricycle, joystick wheelchair among other innovative products.
On Monday, chief minister N Biren distributed' different types of aids worth around Rs 41 lakh which National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) Limited procured from ALIMCO to 178 beneficiaries of Churachandpur district selected by the social welfare department during a function held at Tuibong Peace Ground, Churachandpur district as part of the launch function of Go to Hills 2.0 .
The beneficiaries were selected in three different assessment camps jointly organised by district social welfare office, Churachandpur and Centre for Community Initiative at Lamka, Molnom and Koupui earlier.
NHPC general manager Ranjit Thakur district social welfare officer Churachandpur W Tamphasana, ALIMCO northeast region in-charge Sanjiv Hazare and ALIMCO north east region prosthetist and orthotist research officer Athokpam Yogen were also present at the distribution function.
Battery operated motorised tricycle with accelerator, motorised wheelchair with sensor and joystick, specially designed smart cane and smartphones were among the devices which were distributed to the beneficiaries.
Athokpam Yogen said that it is a happy moment for ALIMCO to provide such devices to the different abled people of the state.
These devices provide several useful features to different abled people, he said while expressing gratitude to NHPC for sponsoring the devices.
ALIMCO will take up further initiatives to provide such devices to differently abled people of other districts of the state in the days to come with the hope that these devices will be able to provide a new hope among them.
He also drew attention of the state government for taking up similar initiatives to ensure these devices reach the needy ones in every nook and corner of the state.
