Imphal, November 04 2024: Following assurances from the government, the 'Joint Action Committee against the cold-blooded murder of Md Shahjahan Khullakpam' claimed the body of SI Shahjahan from JNIMS morgue on Monday.

Speaking to newspersons at the morgue premises, JAC convenor Makakmayum Faaya Saffar informed that Shahjahan's body was claimed, following assurances from the chief minister to address all of their demands.

He continued that the JAC had submitted a memorandum to the CM demanding the termination of service of constable A Bikramjit, filing of chargesheet within two months and providing a suitable job to the deceased's wife, in addition to compatible ex-gratia to the family as per the police rule.

Later, the final rites of SI Shahjahan were performed at his birthplace in Yairipok Tulihal Toupokpi with a guard of honour.
