Imphal, September 04 2024:
Imagi Meira convenor Thokchom Sujata has urged the two MPs from Manipur in the Parliament to return to Imphal and work together with the 50 MLAs of the state, instead of indulging in political one upmanship.
Speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club on Wednesday, Sujata lamented that the state government has been unable to either defend or take action against the persistent ag gression by the Kuki militants.
Wryly remarking that purpose of having a government is becoming increasingly clear, she maintained that the CM cannot claim that peace has been restored in the state from his cushiony seat in the CM's Bungalow along with stressing the need for the two MPs to return to Manipur and work together with the 50 MLAs and the CSOs in resolving the prevailing unrest situation.
She continued that it is not entirely impossible for violence in the fringe areas to spill over into the valley.
The two MPs should remember that Che people voted them to power to save the state, not for the sake of the party they belong to, she said, while cautioning that a people's movement much intense than the June 18 incident could occur in the state.
