Meira Paibis protest move to nab VVs

Thoubal, December 02 2024: Meira Paibi activists took out rallies in various parts of the district on Sunday, calling for protection of village volunteers (VVs) safeguarding Manipur and its territorial integrity.

They demanded that village volunteers should not be arrested under any circumstances.

Meira paibis of Thoubal Kiyam Wangmataba took out torch rallies demanding that charges levelled against volunteers of Arambai Tenggol be withdrawn immediately.

The protestors also held placards and shouted slogans such as "We condemn arrest of village volunteers" and "Territorial integrity of Manipur cannot be compromised" .

The meira paibis reasoned that as the government had failed to protect the life and property of people, Arambai Tenggol took up the cudgel to defend Meetei villages from the Kuki aggression.

Stating that charges levelled against leaders of Arambai Tenggol are unacceptable, they demanded the government to withdraw its actions on the ground that Arambai Tenggol and village volunteers are not insurgents or terrorists.

Women protestors also took out torch rallies and shouted slogans in Lilong Nungei, Thoubal Athokpam, Thoubal Melaground, Thoubal Wangmataba and Wangjing Keithel area.
