Enrolment in Govt schools increased six-fold: Rajen

Education minister S Rajen Singh has informed that enrolment in government schools has been increased by six times, and attributed this to improvement in infrastructure in the government schools and education system of the state.
The minister was speaking as chief guest at the premiere show of the play 'Ereipakkidamak' based on the New Education Policy (NEP) at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound, Imphal on Sunday.
Rajen said that after the launch of School Fagathansi Mission in the state, the number of school dropout students has decreased.
The Mission has been a turning point in the mindset of the people of Manipur, particularly among the guardians regarding education of their children, he added.
The minister maintained that the central government led by Narendra Modi has introduced the National Education Policy, 2020, which has covered a wide range of areas in education sector including vocational and other co-curricular activities.
The new policy will be providing job security to the citizens.
The policy will bear fruit by 2030 as targeted, he said.
Minister Rajen asserted that the guidelines and all the pages of the New Education Policy may be found hard to go through but, it will be easier to propagate through the medium of a play.
That is why the department of education has initiated to sponsor and organise a mass awareness programme on NEP through the medium of a play (Shumang Leela) 'Ereipakkidamak', he added.
He also said that teachers of the government schools are all well qualified and they possess all the required talents of being an ideal teacher.
Rajen also appealed to the people of the state to send their kids to the government schools as the government is also making every possible effort to improve these schools to the best level.
Speaking as functional president; Youth Affairs & Sports minister Letpao Haokip affirmed that education only can bring change in the society.
Efforts should be made to improve the education system, he said and appealed to the contractors concerned in different departments to maintain quality in their work, thinking for the future generation.
Agriculture & Veterinary minister 0 Lukhoi Singh and commissioner (Education) M Harekrishna Singh attended the programme as guests of honour.
Education (S) director L Nadakumar Singh, ASPD (SSA) T Phulen Meetei, officials from education department and others were also present on the occasion.
