ILDS sets up Advanced Endoscopy Centre

Marking the first establishment pf its kind in the North East and second in eastern India, an Advanced Endoscopy Centre has been established at the Institute of Liver & Digestive Sciences (ILDS), Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi.
Regarding the newly opened centre, ILDS director Dr N Surajkumar told media persons on Wednesday that many patients particularly those with liver and intestinal diseases and cancer from Manipur used to seek treatment outside the state thereby incurring huge expenditure.
In view of the necessity for hospitals arid infrastructures for proper treatment of such diseases, ILDS opened a specialised endoscopy centre so that diseases related with liver and intestine could be treated successfully, he said.
Establishment of the Advanced Endoscopy Centre was preceded by the institute formally conveying on May 27 this year to the Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India (SGEI), the highest endoscopic body of India, for inspection, followed by a team of SGEI visiting ILDS on September 29 to evaluate the hospital's facilities, technology and specialised team.
After the inspection, SGEI accredited the endoscopy facility at ILDS as an advanced endoscopy centre on October 21 making the private hospital the first in the North East to get advanced endoscopy centre accreditation and second in eastern India after Kolkata's Apollo hospital.
This significant achievement placed ILDS hospital at the forefront of advanced medical care in the region, bringing cutting-edge endoscopic services closer to home for the people of the North-East, Dr Surajkumar maintained.
According to the director, the state-of-the-art centre is equipped with the latest technology including Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (both diagnostic and therapeutic), Cholangioscopy with electro hydro lithotripsy, single balloon enteroscopy, artificial intelligence-supported endoscopy and advanced therapeutic procedures to address gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic and biliary diseases.
Dr Suraj further said that establishment of the centre underscores ILDS hospital's dedication to expanding healthcare infrastructure and providing high-quality accessible medical services.
"The hospital is committed to furthering its role as a leader in medical innovation and continues to invest in the best technologies for the region," he said and expressed hope of providing medical facilities beyond the state, including neighbouring states and even Myanmar.
