Students urged not to join agitations

: The Science Unit of Department of Education (Schools) under the aegis of National Council of Science Museums, Ministry of Culture organised the 43rd state level science seminar for Class VIII-X on the theme 'Millets- A super food or a diet fad', at MSFDS, Palace Compound, here, on Tuesday.
The first session of the seminar was presided over by CAU Department of Agronomy Professor L Nabachandra, where 13 students from different districts presented their papers.
Speaking at the prize distribution of the first session as the chief guest, Education (S) director L Nandakumar mentioned the prolonged closure of schools in the state owing to the prevailing violence.
However, as normal classes have resumed, the students must try their level best not to let the academic year go to waste.
He urged the students not to be involved in any strike, rally or agitation, as the government has no other option of dealing with the matter other than to close the schools.
But, if the schools are closed again, it would affect the academic year of the students, he said and as such, appealed to the students not to join rally, strike or any protests, for the sake of their future.
He then lauded all the students who participated in the seminar, while informing that the winners of the seminar will represent the state at the National Science Seminar.
The inaugural function was presided over by Education (School/Valley) additional director Bisheshwar Khumukcham while Education (School/Hills) additional director Dangmei Manglem, senior administrative officer S David and chief finance officer B Sanatombi were present as guests of honour.
The winner of the seminar, Sainik School Imphal Class X student Alex Sinam will represent Manipur at the National Science Seminar set to be held on October 12 in New Delhi.
