Curfew extended for 14 days in Kangpokpi

Kangpokpi, June 26 2021:
The district authority has extended lockdown and curfew for another 14 days.
District magistrate (Kangpokpi) Somorjit Salam, in an order issued Friday stated that the threat of the pandemic and the possibility of wide spread infection still exist in the district and as such suitable restrictions need to be put in place for public safety.
All departments and institutions like media, power, fire services, PHED, CAF&PD, Police, Health, Relief and DM and district administration are permitted to function while vehicle workshops of goods trucks, petrol tankers, LPG bullet, etc., shall to open from 8 am to 3 pm on all days by taking adequate precautions and following necessary protocols.
Shops selling essentials items are allowed to open from 7 am to 1 pm on alternate days on the condition that the shopkeepers get fortnightly COVID-19 free certificates from the medical officer in charge of their area.
Earlier, in the previous curfew and lockdown, shops of essentials items were allowed to open from 7 am to 10 am.
Pharmacies will open as usual and the owners require fortnightly COVID-19 free certificates from the medical officer concerned of the area, and banking services with limited staff and petrol pumps to remain opened.
With 15 new COVID-19 positive detected in the last 24 hours, the number of active cases in the district climbed to 138 and the fatality count reached 37.Meanwhile, considering the low percentage of vaccination in Kangpokpi district, MLA Nemcha Kipgen has directed the seven COVID Task Force teams of her constituency to intensify and organise extensive mass awareness among the public for vaccination.
The medical department, on the other hand, intensified contact tracing and mass testing at various places in the district.
Saturday's mass screen-ing/testing was conducted at Toribari by the medical team led by Dr Sanjeep and Dr Mary Jone, during which more than 130 individuals were tested and all found negative.
Dr Paotinlal Haokip, MS District Hospital Kangpokpi, conveyed gratitude to the village authority of Toribari and all those who rendered cooperation and help in the mass screening.
