One accused held in KA Shanti murder case

Litan police have arrested one accused in the KA Shanti murder case, police sources said on Thursday.
The accused was identified as Konthoujam Jugeshwor (47) from Leimakhong Mapal Maning Leikai under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East.
He was arrested by Litan Police in connection with the death of AK Shanti on Wednesday.
The accused is stated to be a mason.
A joint action committee (JAC) for the murder case has pledged not to claim the body until all culprits are brought to book and punished quickly.
A group of volunteers of United NGO Mission-Manipur along with a media team visited the spot where KA Shanti was found dead.
She was found brutally murdered in a bushy area in Lamlei village under Litan Police Station on Wednesday.
The body of KA Shanti (40), wife of KA Ramrei from Ramlei village, was spotted by some locals at the site located about 300 m from her house around 2 pm.
The police believed she was stabbed to death.
She left behind two sons and one daughter.
She left home around 11 am on June 21 and whereabouts of her was unknown to her family since then until she was found dead at the spot.
