Imphal, June 24 2021:
Organisations and individuals including All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) distributed edible items and other relief items to people affected by Covid-19, Community Home Isolation Centre (CHIC) and scribes on Thursday.
In continuation of its aid distribution programme, AMUCO in collaboration with All Manipur Muslim Development Organisation (AMMDO) and United Meitei Pangal Organisation (UMPO) provided edible items to 86 families belonging to the weaker sections of society in Muslim villages of Yairipok under Imphal East district as well as in Phoudel, Lilong and Uchiwa Santhel under Thoubal district.
In a release, AMUCO assistant secretary MM Thambou informed that the organisation also joined hands with All Mayai Lambi Clubs' Organisation (AMALCO) and distributed edible items to 20 Muslim households of Paobitek and 30 Meitei families at Top Upokpi under Wangoi assembly constituency.
The distribution programme was attended by AMUCO president Pheiroijam Nando Luwang, MM Thambou and secretary organisation (incharge) Koijam Santosh, it added.
Meanwhile, Bishnupur AC Polling Development Committee under the aegis of MPCC president and Bishnupur MLA Govindas Konthoujam provided food items to 450 families living in containment zones in Nachou area under Bishnupur AC.
Nambol Phoijing Awang Senior Citizens also distributed edibles to families under containment zone at Phoijing Awang Leikai.
Meanwhile, Khongjom Covid-19 Task Force informed that it has been extending support day and night to address any issue arising out of pandemic in Khongjom area.
In a release, Fatherland Patriots' Memorial Club Khongjom general secretary Olen Sapam stated that the Task Force conducted mass testing and mass vaccination two times at Khongjom area, arranged ambulances and essential commodities for positive patients with the help of authorities concerned.
It has been also supporting local police in maintaining Covid-19 guidelines along with arranging edible items for all frontline workers daily.
They have also conducted cremation of people of Khongjom who died of Covid-19 infection, it added.
Members of Lamjaotongba Gram Panchayat led by pradhan E Sushila Devi also donated edibles and drinking water for the Covid positive people staying at State Academy of Training, Takyelpat and Saint Joseph Higher Secondary School CHICs for Patsoi AC.
On the other hand, Hiyanglam MLA Dr Radheshyam Yumnam provided oximeters, face masks and hand sanitizers along with cash to five journalists from Kakching district during a simple function held at his residence at Langmeidong Bazar on Thursday.
Dr Radheshyam also provided edible items, hand sanitisers, face masks and cash to Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers and 47 differently abled persons of the AC .
