Imphal, July 23 2023:
Maintaining that the ongoing crisis in Manipur is an internal issue and does not deserve intervention by Mizoram, Federation of Civil Society Organisation (FOCS) Manipur has warned outsiders not to interfere in the internal matters of the state.
Addressing media persons at its Ningthem Pukhri Mapal office here on Sunday, FOCS president Th Manihar said that the Peace Accord MNF Returnees Association (PAMRA) issuing a notice to the Meitei people living in Mizoram to leave the state for safety reasons in view of the peace rally called by the Zo, Hmar community in Mizoram on July 25, is akin to issuing 'Quit Notice' to the Meitei community.
He further informed that the Hmar Students' Association, Sinlung Hills had in a release said that the Mizo people have been left shattered and angered by the atrocities committed by Meitei people to one David (Mizo) and two Mizo ladies.
Therefore, the Meitei people residing in Sinlung Hills Council areas and Mizoram are not safe and as such urgent notice informing the Meiteis to return to their respective places has been served.
Any untoward incident happening to those people violating the notice would be their sole responsibility.
This is the last information, the release had said, he added.
Manihar also said that since PAMRA is the frontal organisation of MNF which is in power in Mizoram now, there is suspicion that what is happening in Mizoram is at the behest of the government.
Moreover, the Mizoram government has been supporting the Kukis in the present crisis of Manipur, he pointed out.
The FOCS president also expressed resented that the government of Manipur has shelved the plan,, to airlift around 2000 Meitei people settling in Mizoram.
Manipur and Mizoram governments should shoulder responsibility if at all any unwanted incidents befall upon the Meitei people in Mizoram, he said and asked Manipur government also give befitting re ply to the Mizoram government for interfering in the internal matters of the state.
