Imphal, August 20 2021:
All Manipur College Teachers' Association (AMCTA), while thanking the state government for its orders for implementation of 7th UGC Pay Scales and Regulations 2018, has urged the government to redress the remaining issues from the association's 10-point charter of demands submitted earlier on priority basis.
AMCTA took the decision during its virtual executive committee meeting held on Thursday.
While addressing the meeting, AMCTA president M Lokendro Singh extended gratitude to the chief minister and the education minister for their prompt action to fulfil its demands for implementation of 7th UGC Pay scales and Regulations 2018 as per the Moll signed on March 6, 2021.He also appreciated the teachers for their cooperation and support to AMCTA's struggle, according to a press release of AMCTA issued on Friday.
The association further said that the executive meeting discussed the remaining issues from the AMCTA's 10 point charter of demands after fulfilment of its "two major demands - pay revision and placement of assistant professors in their higher grades (now pending for few teachers)".
It then recalled that an understanding was made between the government and AMCTA during the meeting held on September 26, 2019 in the presence of the then minster where it was decided to resolve all the issues on priority basis just after the demand No 1 was fulfilled.
"Accordingly, AMCTA has decided to pursue the government for redressing the remaining issues on priority basis.
In addition to the remaining issues from the 10-point charter of demands, the EC also decided to urge the authorities concerned for issuing the required orders for those teachers who had already submitted their applications for correction in their MGELs at the earliest as top priority so that the salaries of the incumbents may be released without any hindrance," AMCTA added.
