Govt forms panel to audit supply/use of medical oxygen

As advised by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare consequent to a ruling of the Supreme Court on May 6, the state government has constituted an Audit Sub-Group on Medical Oxygen under the National Task Force for holistic assessment of issues related to receipt and distribution of medical oxygen.
As per an order issued by Health & FW special secretary H Rosita, the members of the Committee include additional secretary to the Ministry of Culture Rohit Kumar Singh (nominated by the Government of India); Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) DCE Gagan Agarwal (nominated by the Government of India); commissioner Nidhi Kesarwani, (state government representative); RIMS Head of Department of Anaesthesia (Medical Practitioner); Department of Health Manipur state nodal officer (Covid Treatment Protocol) Dr N Hemantakumar Singh (Medical Practitioner); Babina Diagnostics managing director Dr Th Dhabali Singh (Co-opted Member); and JNIMS medical superintendent Dr Kh Loke-shor Singh (Medical Practitioner).
As per the order, the Audit Sub-Group on Medical Oxygen shall be responsible to determine whether the Medical Oxygen supplies allocated by the Union Government reach the state and the efficacy of the distribution networks in distributing the supplies meant for hospitals, health care institutions and others.
It further informed that the sub-group will be responsible to check whether the available stocks are being distributed on the basis of effective, transparent and professional mechanism, and accountability regarding the utilisation of the supplies of oxygen allocated in the state.
