Mt Zion College conducts 1st graduation ceremony

The 1st Graduation Ceremony cum Felicitation Program of Mt Zion'College, Kathikho Karong was held with by L Dikho, minister PHE, Printing & Stationery, as chief guest and Prof Dr S Jibon Kumar Singh, director College Development Council, Manipur University, as guest of honour.
Dr Siba Lohrii, principal Mt Zion College, in his welcome address, called the event memorable, saying that "the Mt Zion tree that they had planted bore its first fruits with flying colour results from the first batch".
"All the good results that the college achieved this day are because of Gbd's blessings and through prayer support from the parents, CSOs and civil leaders," the principal said, while thanking the teaching faculties for their efforts.
The day was reportedly organised to show their appreciation to the students for being very hard working and obedient.
The management committee had earlier reportedly decided to award a sum of Rs 1 lakh to whoever got into the Top 10 ranking list, the college had produced a 6th ranker in the BA examination conducted by Manipur University.
Prof Dr S Jibon Kumar Singh handed out the cash prize to T Wilamsiliu of education department for securing the 6th position.
The committee also decided to continue with the same cash prize for rank holders (Top 10 list) as a token of appreciation and encouragement as well as to help parents from financially challenged background.
In his speech, Dr S Jibon called the day "Day of Pride" for the graduating students and their parents, faculty members and teaching staff for their contributions in helping the students bring laurels to the institution.
Calling it a milestone achievement for the students, the College Development Council director stated that students harvested for what they had sown through their efforts during the last 3 years.
He also called them qualified professionals, ready to be handed over to the society to bring development and welfare of the society.
Advancement in science and technology has improved the living standard of human being in many Ways and at the same time has deteriorated in many aspects, the director observed while urging the students to work hard and contribute to the society.
Minister Dikho congratulated the management, teachers and the passed-out students with a topper from education department, and termed the graduation results of the college as a great achievement.
He stated that the focus of the state government is to change the mindset of the young people, promote them and bring them up to lead the society where there are lots of problems although the state is small.
Dikho urged the youth to make use of their educational qualification so as to become responsible citizens of the state.
Attaining education qualification is not enough as many have failed to contribute to the society or do not know what they should do in life, he said, while urging the youth to contribute to the society.
The minister also urged all to earn honestly and live a righteous life to become useful citizens.
Nothing is impossible to a willing heart provided one is committed.
Motivation from young students is an encouragement to all everywhere, he added.
Awarding of certificates to the 35 passed out students was done by the dignitaries.
Rev H Akha, senior pastor Tungjoy Baptist Church, PNBA, blessed the passed out students with prayer.
