Imphal, August 19 2015:
Strongly condemning the violent incident that occurred in Moreh town on Tuesday following a scuffle between pro-ILPS and anti-ILPS supporters during a public rally, State Bharatiya Janata Party president Thounaojam Chaoba has blamed the O Ibobi led Manipur Govt for failing to take timely action to defuse the tension.
Chaoba demanded compensation for the victims of the violence.
During a press meet at the BJP office here on Wednesday, Chaoba further said that several hotels and houses had been destroyed in the incident during which some people were also injured.
While appealing to all the communities in the state to remain calm and restore peace in Moreh, Chaoba said that such unwanted incidents which happened in the state from time to time only blocks the road to unity and peace in the state.
Appreciating the efforts of civil society organisations in restoring peace in the violence-torn border town of Moreh, especially UCM, AMUCO and Kuki Inpi, Chaoba did not deny the fact that the Manipur Govt could have stopped the incident from happening.
