Imphal, January 19 2022:
North East Power Infra proprietor Laikangbam Albert has described Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) as a non-functioning agency.
While alleging that there is no one in the agency to listen to the complaints of the beneficiaries, he also demanded the government to look into the functioning of the agency.
Addressing a press meet held in front of MANIREDA office on Wednesday, L Albert stated that start-up entrepreneurs who had installed rooftop solar panels under Rooftop Solar Programme of Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy had locked the office of MANIREDA without any violence over non-payment of shares to the beneficiaries.
They had asked the scheme officer to inform them of the reason behind non-release of funds sanctioned by the Union ministry.
The officer was asked to give a copy of correspondence between the agency and the ministry for the release of funds, but the officer could not furnish the same, he claimed.
Albert continued that they had proposed for talks on the matter with MANIREDA officials on Wednesday which the latter declined.
Director in-charge also washed his hands off on the matter stating that he has no knowledge about it, Albert recounted and condemned alleged rudeness on the part of the scheme officer.
Why has the state government kept such a non-functioning agency in the state? It must closely look into the issue.
The firm has come to talk with the agency as representative of the customers and if the agency continues to ignore them then who will be responsible ii more than 400 customers storm the office, he posed.
Albert also termed as unfortunate that agency's director stated that they have received complaints from people who have installed roof top solar panels.
Electronic items have high chances of breaking down and they are repaired if it is under warranty.
There are no defunct solar panels and if there were any then MANIREDA must produce them, he asserted.
