Imphal, February 18 2025: Raising objection against the resignation of chief minister N Biren in the midst of the state passing through a critical phase, Top Dusara and Khaham meira paibi staged sit-in protest at Top Awang Leikai Keithel Shang on Tuesday.

Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, Top Awang Leikai Mahila Mandal Meira Paibi secretary Chanam Kunjalata denounced imposition of the President's Rule in the state while emphasising on formation/existence of democratic governance to address the public grievances and uphold rights of the people.

She pointed out that the people yearn to live under a state government, not under president s rule.

She further called upon authorities concerned to stop widespread poppy cultivation by Kukis and denounced the attempt to arrest village volunteers.

There won't be any Meetei if village volunteers did not protect the lives and properties of the people, she reasoned.

The protestors held placards inscribed with slogans 'Stop poppy cultivation in Manipur', 'Save indigenous people of Manipur', 'Take action against Kuki MLAs scheming to divide Manipur' and 'We condemn imposition of president's rule' among others.
