Imphal, December 17 2024:
Demanding dismissal of police personnel involved in killing of village volunteer Laishram Prem, Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) Students' Front demanded the state government and authority concerned for unconditional release of the six village volunteers arrested.
Speaking to media persons at AIMS office, Kwakeithel on Tuesday, COCOMI Students' Front media co-ordinator Sukham Bidyananda strongly denounced the killing Laishram Prem by the police at Salungpham village in Thoubal district on December 14 and arresting six village volunteers.
He said Prem was a student preparing to appear the HSLC examination in February, 2025.As the conflict broke out, Prem donned the role of a village volunteer to fight Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists as the government failed to protect the lives and property of the people, Bidyananda maintained.
While expressing apprehension about return of fake encounter days in the state, Bidyananda pointed out that everyone is aware about the roles of village volunteers and further urged security forces to demonstrate their presence in the hill areas with the same power they exhibit in the valley.
He reiterated the demand to dismiss security forces involved in the killing of Prem and release of the six village volunteers without any condition.
