While warmly welcoming the appointed of Ajay Kumar Bhalla as the 17th Manipur Governor and expressing optimism for the future under his leadership, Arambai Tenggol (AT) opined that the appointment of Ajay Bhalla signifies the beginning of a new era for the state, one filled with hope and fresh ideas.
"We are filled with anticipation and optimism as we stand at the threshold of this new chapter in governance," Arambai Tenggol said in a statement.
Reflecting on the myriad challenges the state has been facing, including conflicts and divisions threatening peace, Arambai Tenggol said: "With the appointment of our new Governor, we are reminded that change is not only possible, it is upon us" .
The statement further highlighted the Governor's vision for Manipur, focusing on fostering dialogue, bridging divides, and creating an inclusive environment where all citizens feel valued.
Arambai Tenggol stressed that this vision of peace, development, and harmony must be supported by all.
Under the leadership of the new Governor, Arambai Tenggol expressed confidence about significant development initiatives, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, education, and healthcare, which are expected to drive the state toward a brighter future.
Addressing concerns on security, the statement reaffirmed commitment to stronger border fencing and emphasised the importance of protecting Manipur's territorial integrity.
The statement also urged the Governor to prioritise the implementation of the National Register of Citizenship to ensure the security and recognition of all residents.
Another key issue raised in the statement was the fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse.
Arambai Tenggol fully supports the Governor's stance against illegal poppy plantations and the establishment of rehabilitation and prevention programs aimed at fostering a healthier environment for the state's citizens, it added.
Arambai Tenggol also called for collective action in realising the Governor's vision.
"Let us welcome our new Governor not just with applause but with commitment and action.
Together, we can build a legacy for future generations defined by peace, development, and prosperity," the statement said.
