Skill development training for IDPs underway

Khongnangthaba University, Khurai Konsam Leikai on Thursday launched a three -day Entrepreneurship cum Skill Development training programme under NEH aimed at instilling a fresh perspective among the resilient residents of relief camps.
The opening ceremony of the training programme was attended by Manipur University's Research and Development Cell director professor Chingakham Ibohal, University director Dr Aribam Guneshwor and motivational speaker & life skill coach Thounaojam Bonbihari as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the event, ICAR-CIFE Kolkata Centre, scientist Dr Mandakini delved into the core mission of empowering those impacted by the ongoing crisis through skill enhancement and entrepreneurship, and emphasised the significance of self-sufficiency and community support as Bonbihari advocated for 'Vocal for Local' initiative and emphasised the potential of indigenous fish production, suggesting a shift from dependence qn imports to local cultivation and exportation.
This transition not only promises economic independence for the state but also fosters pride in its natural resources, he said.
On the other-hand, professor Ibohal suggested creation of a corpus fund at Khongnangthaba University to ensure sustained assistance to the affected individuals while observing that such initiative could be cornerstone of the University's commitment to social responsibility and community engagement.
Dr Guneshwor envisioned a future where financial self-sustainability is commonplace through initiatives that will nurture entrepreneurial spirit He reaffirmed the University's commitment to driving change, advancing empowerment, fostering innovation, and promoting sustainable development.
A moment of silence was also observed to honour victims of the violence.
