Govt blamed for crisis; sit-ins oppose arrest of VVs

A protest was organised by Moirang Apunba Meira Paibi Ima Lup (MAMPIL) at Moirang on Wednesday holding the central government and those who helmed the state's affairs accountable for the ongoing crisis in Manipur.
During the protest, meira paibi activists from various parts of Moirang chanted slogans such as 'No divide and rule policy by central government when the state is in turmoil', 'No arrest of village volunteers who are protecting state's integrity', 'Facilitate return of IDPs to their native homes at the earliest', 'Immediate halt to state terrorism' and 'No arrest or killing of civilians' .
Similarly, women vendors of Wabagai Lamkhai Keithel staged a protest at the Keithel on Wednesday denouncing arrest of VVs and return of IDPs to their native places as soon as possible.
At the protest, the agitators chanted slogans like 'Stop arrest of VVs', 'Don't violate human rights', 'Government should arrange return of IDPs to their original homes at the earliest', 'No division of Manipur through deceitful policy of centre', 'Stop carrying out proxy wars to kill civilians', 'Stop state terrorism', etc .
Speaking to media persons, one Huidrom Thoibi pointed out that VVs took up arms to protect Manipur along with stating that mothers of Manipur are able to take care of their children due to presence and vigilance of village volunteers in the fringe areas.
