Owner thrashes truck driver, labourer

A truck driver and a labourer were seriously beaten up and left to die by the owner of a truck over the issue of the truck getting stuck near a foothill between Khuningtek and Mongjam on Tuesday.
The injured driver and the labourer are presently undergoing treatment at Noor Hospital, Lilong.
The injured driver has been identified as Md Anish Khan (22), son of Yakup Ali of Lilong Makha Leikai while the injured labourer is one Rama Sisaram (32), son of Janeram of Madmani district, Bihar but presently staying at Kakching.
According to Heingang police station reports, a person from Heingang brought the two injured people to the police station around 9 pm.
Both of them were given first aid in a nearby PHC which advised them to be taken to a hospital as they had fractured bones.
Later, their family members were informed and they took them away around 2 am.
Driver Md Anish stated that he has been driving a six-wheeler truck (AS 11CC 1036) owned by one Bidhan of Thangmeiband for one month and 11 days.
He used to haul sawdust from Napetpalli under Lamlai police station to a firm in Kakching Kuraopokpi.
Unfortunately, on Tuesday around 7:30 pm when he was trying to reverse the truck to facilitate the labourers in hauling up the sawdust, it got stuck.
He informed the owner about the incident but when the owner arrived at the spot, he (owner) locked him up inside the truck and then mercilessly beat up Rama Sisaram, who was one of the four labourers working, and later him, Md Anish recalled.
Anish continued that when they regained consciousness, they were helped by a man from Heingang who took them to the Heingang police station.
He expressed his gratitude to the person who identified himself as relative of the chief minister, without him they would have been in much worse condition.
Yakup Ali, father of Anish appealed to the government and authority concerned to take legal action against the owner of the truck who beat up the driver and labourer and left them to die, just because the truck got stuck.
