Imphal, April 11 2022:
Revolutionary People's Front (RPF), the political wing of the banned People's Liberation Army (PLA), has extended its greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of "Athoubasing gi Numit" (Martyrs' Day), which will be observed on April 13 .
In statement issued by its deputy secretary (Publicity) Roben Khuman, the outfit offered its deepest respects to all those who have sacrificed their lives and suffered immense atrocities under the alleged oppression of India and its army.
The outfit then urged the people to recall the words of the martyrs - "It is better to live one day in freedom than to remain subservient and suppressed for a lifetime".
The statement recounted that after the once independent and glorious Manipur kingdom was forcefully annexed to India and because of some group's narrow minded and self-interest thinking, Manipur is now dependent on India for its survival.
Not only has the economy of Manipur been destroyed, the land has to wait for some meagre fund and grants.
The people of Manipur have long been suppressed and deprived of their political sovereignty under the schemes and plans of the "Delhi Bandits" for over 70 years, it remarked.
It continued: "RPF/PLA truly believes that we would one day taste victory in the fight against India's occupation of Manipur, thereby helping to restore Manipur to its former independent status and be able to take part in the globalisation age.
The people of Manipur need to discern the cultural replacement tactics pursued by India under the pretence of being Indian citizens, and most importantly, work together to defend against the Balkanization method being used among the indigenes of Manipur.
Thus, all need to take the responsibility to protect and defend our motherland.
"The martyrs laid down their lives to take the fight for independence to the next level.
RPF/PLA with the support of the people has defeated the Indian army at numerous instances and exposed many of their dirty schemes to the people.
Hence, the only talk RPF/ PLA will hold with the Indian government is on the matter of Manipur's independence from India," it affirmed.
The outfit then appealed to the people to offer respects to the martyrs at their respective memorial sites on April 13 and further appealed to all households to hold a candle light vigil in the evening.
It also appealed to all concerned to cease all forms of entertainment programmes except for religious events on the day.
