Intending candidate calls for curbing poll expenses

Former IMC corporator and intending candidate in Thangmeiband assembly constituency Hijam Nutanchandra has called upon the public to check excessive spending by candidates during elections and avoid using drugs and intoxicants.
Inaugurating the building of Youth Development Organisation (YDO) at Thingel Maru on Friday, Nutanchandra said that Thangmeiband is still lagging behind in terms of development despite being in the heart of Imphal city.
He appealed to the public to study the life, works and nature of candidates so as to elect the best in the forthcoming state assembly election in order to bring development in the real sense in the constituency.
Thanking Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) for its initiative to reduce election expenses and prevent abuse of drugs and intoxicants in the name of elections, he assured all possible assistance from his side while urging the public to support the initiative.
He also commended the role of clubs and Meira Paibi groups in shaping the society.
Retired under-secretary Adhikarimayum Rameshwar, ICAR assistant chief technical officer Dr B Kumar, retired executive officer Soibam Birkumar, YDO former president Naorem Babu and incumbent president Wangjam Inaobi attended the function as presidium members.
Floral tributes were paid to the portraits of deceased YDO members on the occasion.
