Mao Naga Freshers & Gathering held in New Delhi

The Mao Naga 52nd Fresher's cum Annual Gathering 2024 (New Delhi) celebrated the vibrant culture and achievements of the Mao Naga community at the national capital.
The event brought together distinguished dignitaries and aspiring individuals for an inspiring occasion focused on inspiration, learning and networking, and future collaboration.
The event was attended by MLA Losii Dikho as chief guest, while Ashuli Chalai, president Mao Welfare Association Delhi and joint secretary National Commission for Women; K Moses Chalai, secretary Inter State Council Secretariat, Ministry of Home Affairs; and Dr Ashiho Asosii Mao, director Botanical Survey of India, Kolkata; were present as guests of honour.
MLA Losii shared insights on the importance of time management and determination, urging attendees to "make every minute count" and emphasising economic empowerment as a pathway to sustainable impact.
"Economic strength surpasses political influence," he remarked, encouraging youth to consider entrepreneurship for uplift of the community.
The MLA further highlighted the need for sincerity and vision in public service, advocating for a political approach grounded in community support.
Koshia, special public prosecutor District & Sessions Court, Senapati, shared her experiences from life in Delhi, encouraging attendees to embrace personal growth and persevere through challenges.
Wennyei Konyak, resident commissioner Nagaland House, New Delhi, underscored the importance of solidarity within the Mao Naga community, adding prestige to the programme.
Representatives from the Mao Students' Union, including Mariikho O'Leriina, tribunal general and former president, were also in attendance, further enhancing the event's spirit of unity.
The second session featured cultural performances, music; and a spirited makei (ululation) competition, with Ronald Pfokreni and Mariikho Lerinah winning as champion and first runner-up, respectively.
The celebration also included a fresher's recognition, with Lohrii Mokukape and Kajini crowned as Mr and Miss Freshers.
Overall, the event fostered a memorable atmosphere of joy and community pride, reflecting the talents and dedication of the Mao Naga people.
