Sit-in flays Govt inaction against Kuki militants

Imphal, September 10 2024:
Denouncing alleged inaction by the government in-spite of fully aware about Kuki militants attacking civilians with use of weaponised drones and rockets, United Clubs' Organisation & Meira Paibi Lup Ward No 9, Keishamthong AC staged sit-in protest at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai community hall on Tuesday.
The protestors put on display placards inscribed with slogans as 'Save Manipur, we are Indians', 'Go back all para-military forces', 'No separate administration at any cost', 'Implement NRC immediately' and 'Strongly condemns drone bombings' among others.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, United Clubs convenor Chongtham Iboyaima reminded the government authorities that apart from Kuki militants using sophisticated weapons to obliterate the Meeteis after outbreak of the conflict last year, the same perpetrators continue to target Meetei settlements by deploying weaponised drones and firing rockets since September 1.In-spite of such undeniable evidences, the government is doing nothing substantial to neutralise threat posed by the Kuki terrorists, she regretted, while denouncing the government for its failure to protect the lives and properties of the people.
Accusing the state government of downplaying the threat perspective under the pretext of consulting with the Governor amid frustrated students venting their angst against the government, the convenor also accused the central government of taking side with the perpetrators rather than initiating holistic measures to address plight and hardships of the state's masses.
While remarking that imposition of curfew as pre-emptive measures will not help restore peace in Manipur, she cautioned that such dictatorial policy will not only backfire but will only agitate the public to launch the movement much intense than the June 18 up rising.
